Love Island’s £2.5million villa is owned by multi-millionaire German businessman Nikolaus Broschek whose wife is related to Queen Elizabeth
THE Love Island villa has been the focus of our attention for seven weeks now – but have you ever wondered who owns it?
The Majorcan pad hasn’t been purpose built for the ITV2 reality show like the Big Brother house, it’s a genuine, real life mansion owned by multi-millionaire German businessman Nikolaus Broschek.
And the villa even has links to our very own Queen Elizabeth II, as Nikolaus, 77, is married to Princess Ingeborg Schleswig-Holstein who is a distant relative of our monarch.
Princess Ingeborg, 66, is the 4th-great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria and is a member of German nobility.
Her family still has strong links to reigning monarchs in Denmark and Norway.
The couple married in 1991 and Nikolaus purchased the Love Island villa in the Majorcan countryside nine years later.
It has been the setting for the last three series of Love Island, boasting an infinity pool, terrace and outdoor kitchen.
The villa is taken over by a production company for up to three months each year and undergoes a number of transformations to accommodate the 24 hour filming of the programme.
While Nikolaus is the sole director of Casas Rusticas e Historicas de Mallorca, Ingeborg is a talented artist who worked as Andy Warhol’s assistant in the 1980s.
More from Love Island
Nikolaus’ villa isn’t the only property used during a series of Love Island, as the production company also hires the four bedroom property Casa Amor nearby.
It was recently revealed Casa Amor – which boasts four bedrooms, two roof terraces, a pool and open-plan bathroom – is up for sale for £2.5 million and can also be rented for £8,500 a week.
