Nakajima and Watanabe make weight for God's Left Bantamweight tournament
The God's Left Tournament begins tomorrow with 3 quarter final bouts. Among those is a clash between former amateur standout Kazuki Nakajima (6-0, 5) [中嶋一輝] and veteran Kenichi Watanabe (8-4-1, 4) [渡辺健一].
Nakajima is one of the favourites for the tournament, along with #1 Seiya Tsutsumi (5-0, 4) [堤聖也] who got a bye to the semi-final round and fellow unbeaten Jin Minamide (3-0, 3) [南出仁], whilst Watanabe is the oldest of the men involved in the 7 man knockout competition.
Today the fighters took part in their weigh in and both fighters made weight rather comfortably, whilst looking in great condition, likely knowing that winning the tournament would give their career a huge boost.
At the weigh in Watanabe seemed to suggest that if he can't beat Nakajima his career isn't going places, despite being a very clear under-dog. For Nakajima their was a bullish confidence about coming out on top and improving his standing in the sport.
