Hernandez steps in against Dawejko on DAZN
Murat Gassiev withdrew with a shoulder injury last week
Joey Dawejko will still fight in Arlington this Saturday despite original foe Murat Gassiev pulling out due to injury last week. Matchroom confirmed today that the Phildadelphia native will rematch journeyman Rodney Hernandez, whom he fought to a split draw in 2017, on DAZN.

Hernandez’s (13-7-2, 4 KO) record is littered with recognizable names, including MMA veteran Brice Ritani-Coe and kickboxer “Mighty Mo” Siliga, and though he’s lost to pretty much everyone you’d recognize, his only stoppage defeat came against Efe Ajagba. He’s actually coming off of the biggest win of his career, a shock first-round knockout of undefeated Onoriode Ehwarieme on the Devon Alexander-Ivan Redkach card.
Basically, him against Dawejko (19-7-4, 11 KO) figures to be a much more competitive fight than the original matchup. It’s a fun clash of tough guys, nothing more, nothing less.
The card, headlined by a unification bout between Jose Ramirez Jr. and Maurice Hooker, also features Tevin Farmer’s mandatory title defense against Guillaume Frenois and unbeaten featherweight prospect Tramaine “Mighty Midget” Williams against Dominican knockout artist Yenifel Vicente.
