BORIS Johnson has bagged the spacious flat above No11 Downing Street, leaving Sajid Javid and his big family the smaller one above No10.

The new PM decided to take the four-bedroom apartment as his new home.

It has been occupied by all his predecessors going back to Tony Blair.

Boris, whose children are grown up, will live there alone with younger girlfriend Carrie Symonds.

But that leaves new Chancellor Mr Javid with just the cramped two bedroom flat next door to house his wife Laura, and their four children.

Friends said the Treasury boss was likely to instead stay in his family home in Fulham, West London.

The Javids’ large house there was given a special security upgrade when he was made Home Secretary last year.

A source close to Mr Johnson confirmed his living arrangements, but said: “Boris is only following precedent”.

The new PM is not expected to move in to Downing Street for a few days as the No11 flat has only just been vacated by Theresa and Philip May and was being given a deep clean.

The swap between the No10 and No11 flat was originally done by the Blairs in 1997, who had a large family unlike then Chancellor Gordon Brown, who was single.
