Humhej, Blahova no-hit Botswana as Czech Republic advances to Super Round
Czech Republic clinched today the second place in Group B and advanced to the Super Round of the WBSC Softball Europe/Africa Qualifier at Sportpark Paperclip in Utrecht, Netherlands. The Czech team defeated Botswana by a score of 12-0 and finished the Opening Round with a 2-1 record. From the circle, Katelyn Humhej and Martina Blahova combined to pitch a four-innings no-hitter.
In the bottom of the first inning, Czech Republic scored a total of 10 runs to take control of the game, with two outs. Czech’s offensive connected 4 hits and took advantage of 4 defensive errors to secure the win from the beginning.

The Czech squad added one in the second on a fielders choice, and finally scored the last run of the game in the third on a sacrifice fly by Ludmila Kucerkova to plate Lucie Petraskova, who had led off the frame with a triple.
Humhej fanned 3 hitters in 2 innings, with 1 walk; while Blahova collected 4 strikeouts in 2 frames, with 1 walk, to claim the win. For Botswana, starter Lesego Ditau was charged with the loss.
With a record of 2-1, Czech Republic finishes the Opening Round at second place in Group B, and advances to the Super Round, starting tomorrow. Botswana ended its participation in the tournament.
