MLB News: Blake Snell to Undergo Elbow Surgery
Tampa Bay Rays left-handed starter Blake Snell will undergo arthroscopic surgery in his left elbow according to Josh Tolentino of The Athletic.
The 2018 American League Cy Young Award winner will have a procedure to remove a loose body from his elbow and is expected to be out at least four weeks.
Snell, 26, is 6-7 this season with a 4.28 ERA, 3.40 FIP, 12.1 K/9, and has thrown 101 innings in 20 starts. He led major league baseball in 2018 with his 219 ERA+ and his 5.6 H/9.
The Rays enter today with a 58-47 record that leaves them 10 games out of first place in the American League East and one game behind the Oakland Athletics for the second Wild Card.
