Stocks close lower as trade, Fed hang heavy
U.S. stocks drifted lower Tuesday as President Trump renewed his attacks on China, quashing hopes for a speedy resolution to trade tensions. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.1%, closing down 22 points at 27,199. The S&P 500 closed down about 0.26%, nearly 8 points, at 3,013. The Nasdaq lost 20 points, about 0.24%, to close at 8,273. Investors also digested another round of mixed corporate earnings and awaited a crucial Federal Reserve decision.
