Search for criminal suspects in Oakland shuts down streets, puts school in lockdown
OAKLAND — Some streets in the area of Oakland Technical High School were shut down Wednesday afternoon and the school put on lockdown while police searched for some crime suspects, authorities said.
About 1:39 p.m. Wednesday the California Highway Patrol spotted a car containing four people that were wanted for some unspecified crimes.
It was not immediately disclosed where the vehicle was initially spotted but the suspects fled the vehicle in the area of 40th Street and Broadway, near the Oakland Tech campus, police said.
Streets in the area were shut down while police and CHP officers searched for the suspects, including going onto the high school campus. The school was placed on lockdown for about 40 minutes, police said.
Police were still on the scene as of 3:15 p.m. and it was not known if anyone was arrested.
