Protesters Interrupt Cory Booker During Democratic Debate - What Did They Say?
Cory Booker was interrupted by protestors during Night 2 of the 2020 Democratic Debates on Wednesday night (July 31).
The 50-year-old New Jersey senator and presidential hopeful was speaking when protestors began shouting “fire Pantaleo” during his opening statement during the second round of debates.

The chant was actually directed at New York City major Bill de Blasio.
The protestors were referring to Officer Daniel Pantaleo who is the New York Police Department cop who engaged in the fatal struggle with Eric Garner, who died in 2014 while in a chokehold. His death prompted protests for years to come, and is one of the several police killings protested by the Black Lives Matter movement. Earlier in July, it was announced the officers involved in his death would not face any federal charges.
The mayor has been strongly criticized for not firing the officers involved.
