BTIA hosts 34th BI-Annual General Meeting
On July 4th the BTIA hosted its 34th Bi- Annual General Meeting at the George Price Centre, in the City of Belmopan. Over eight five BTIA members, tourism stakeholders, and special invited guests were present in attendance.
The meeting recapped BTIA’s progress throughout the past six months including the Executive Director’s- John M. Burgos mid-year report. He highlighted one of BTIA’s largest marketing event- BETEX which a success as it offered a new format for both stakeholders and buyers who were part of the Roadshow. He also shared the success of current and new destination festivals including the Live Well Fest and the Corozal Coconut Fest. Ms. Melanie Paz’s highlights as the recently elected president. “As I continue the journey enhancing our tourism sector I must commend our Board Members, Chapters and Secretariat on their efforts and commitment to the tourism development within their perspective chapters, membership and the country as a whole,” she stated.
Keynote Speaker, Mr. Anthony Hunt, focused on the Importance of Selecting Your Target Market. He stated: “Belize as a developing destination is at a stage where stakeholders need to understand their clients and provide for the demands of the international markets.” His presentation also focused the international targeted airlines, statistics on arrivals and the goals on keeping airlines satisfied and tips on how to provide quality services within a competitive market. He closed his presentation by sharing-“We need to focus a little less on overall tourism numbers and focus a little more on the right numbers. Quality not quantity.” Click here for full presentation.
