Newcastle make double swoop for £20m Allan Saint-Maximin and Jetro Willems on year-long loan
NEWCASTLE have made a double swoop for Allan Saint-Maximin and Jetro Williams.
Saint-Maximin joins from Nice in a deal that starts at £16.5million but could rise to £20m.
Dutch international Willems, 25, moves from Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan.
The Toon have an option to make his move permanent at the end of the campaign.
Magpies manager Steve Bruce said: “Jetro brings a wealth of experience into the dressing room and I’m very pleased to have brought him here.
“He has played at the highest level and is naturally left-footed so he’ll give us another strong option on that side.”
Willems revealed that close friends Georginio Wijnaldum and Vurnon Anita convinced him to move to St James’ Park after talking with them.
Saint-Maximin, 22, has become Newcastle’s second major arrival this summer after the £40m club-record buy of Brazilian striker Joelinton.
On Saint-Maximin, Bruce added: “I’m delighted to bring Allan to St James’ Park. He is a very talented young player with a big future ahead of him.
“He has all the attributes you would want in an attacking player, including lightning pace, so I’m sure he’ll excite everybody.
“He is a great addition to Newcastle United and the Premier League.”

It is a huge boost for boss Steve Bruce, who has been desperate to strengthen his forward line.
But the Magpies manager still wants up to three more signings and is especially targeting full-backs.
The ex-Sheffield Wednesday chief also wants to tie Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie, Isaac Hayden and Martin Dubravka to new contracts once the transfer window shuts.
