Everton sign midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin from Mainz in £25m deal
MARCO SILVA took his spending past £50million this week by landing Jean-Philippe Gbamin.
The Mainz midfielder is heading to Merseyside in a £25million deal, becoming Everton’s fourth signing of the summer.
Silva has added Gbamin, 23, to Moise Kean’s arrival for £30million from Juventus to bolster his attack.
And the Ivorian was delighted having penned a five-year deal, vowing to “give everything on the pitch” for the Goodison side.
Gbamin told Everton TV: “It’s a big moment with a lot of emotion and now it’s on me to prove on the pitch why they bought me.
“I’m excited because Everton is a great club here in England with a big history and ambition so I didn’t think for more than a moment – I wanted to come here.
“I like to go in the duels. I like to run a lot and tackle. I also pass good and have a good transition.
“All the rest, the fans will see. I will give everything on the pitch.”
BUSY WEEK AHEAD
Silva now wants a right-back on loan to cover for Jonjoe Kenny’s departure to Schalke for the season.
Meanwhile, Everton are locked in talks over one more season-long deal for Kurt Zouma.
The Goodison boss knows he needs to find more defensive options just over a week before the start of the season.
Phil Jagielka was released over the summer while Zouma, 24, returned to Stamford Bridge following a successful loan season at Goodison Park.
And the Times claim Silva has gone back to the London club to see if they would be open to a similar agreement for this campaign.

Fikayo Tomori- another Blues youngster – is a back-up option in case the Toffees fail to land the French centre-back.
New Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is a huge fan of Tomori, 21, having managed him while the pair were at Derby last season.
But Lamps knows he’s not quite ready for first-team Premier League action just yet and plans to loan him out.
