THE owner of two pugs who died while being cared for by a professional dog-sitter has demanded: “Tell me where you buried my babies.”

April Lock, 28, and two other owners have been told by police how and when their pets met their deaths.

But she challenged dog-minder Louise Lawford, 47, to come clean. Speaking to her through The Sun, April said: “It’s time to stop with all the lies.
You are doing yourself no favours. You’re hurting me, my family and the other owners even more.”

Lawford was looking after the five dogs when she said they ran off in Hopwas Woods, Tamworth, Staffs, after being spooked by a gunshot during a walk.

But the three owners became suspicious when they discovered the woods were closed on the day the pets disappeared.

DOG-SITTER NOT HELD

They organised a search for Pablo, a black pug, Maggie, a tan Jack Russell terrier cross, Ralph, a fawn pug, Charlie, a black pug and French bulldog Jack.

Lawford, who has since been questioned by police, then left her home and stopped taking calls.

She has not been arrested but police told the owners they were convinced the pets were dead.

Jaguar Land Rover worker April paid Lawford £400 to look after Ralph and partly sighted Charlie while she was on a ten-day holiday in Spain.

She had left her dogs with her in 2017 during a two-week holiday and was delighted with the care they received.

But mum-of-one April, from Sutton Coldfield, West Mids, said it had turned into a nightmare. She treated her dogs like babies and said they were irreplaceable. Now she just wants to know where they were buried.

April said: “I want to say to Louise, ‘We have been told what happened to them. We know they are dead. There is no doubt in my mind that I now know what happened to my beautiful dogs.

“But now it is all over. They will never come back and it’s time to tell the truth to the police.

“That is all I ask.”
