Giant TCR vs Propel
Im in the market for a new road bike, after almost two years (over 12,000 miles) on a 2018 Trek Emonda SL5.
I know that this question has probably been asked before, but I wanted some advice specific to me and how I ride, so wanted to give some details about my riding.
I typically average 250-300 miles per week in the summer, then around 150-200 in the off-season. I live in western Pennsylvania in the US, and my terrain is nothing but hills. The climbs are never more than 450 feet or so, but they are everywhere and oftentimes very steep.
I normally average 18-20 mph on rides, and I like doing fast group rides, so thats why the Propel seems very nice. However, I do a lot of climbing so Im sure if the TCR would be a better fit. The other thing is, I typically do at least one 100km Ride per week, so for longer days in the saddle, comfort might be one reason to choose the TCR. I have to say though, the Propel looks amazing to me.
I do some road races, I dont love the oval races or crits, I prefer just 40+ mile road races, but I will be doing the occasional crit.
I cant spend more than $3500 or so on the bike, Im 18 years old and dont have a job (starting college in the fall), so money is an issue for me. The TCR I was looking at is the TCR Advanced 1 Pro Compact (mostly Ultegra). The Propel is the Propel advanced Disc. Im only really looking at Giant bikes because I get 20% off on Giant bikes though a sponsor for my bike team.
So, what do you think? TCR or Propel?
Thanks,
John
