LAGOS ISLAND MATERNITY HOSPITAL HARPS ON STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE

The management of the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital has harped on the need to ensure efficiency, quality output and seamless performance in the discharge of tasks and duties which remains a panacea to excellent service delivery.

Speaking at the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital Forum, the Acting Medical Director, Dr. Olufemi Motunolani Omololu stated that the Standard Operating Procedural document is crucial for ensuring a successful implementation of quality service delivery wherein the expected deliverables of an employee is enlisted to serve as a guide towards excellent administrative and technical performance.

While stressing that the document was specifically tailored to each department in an institution and must be followed through conscientiously, Omololu said the procedure has remained germane to the development of any organisation as well as made it easier for job implementation, improved comparability, credibility and legality of a process.

He also said it is a needed catalyst for appraising performance compliance as well as minimise variations/errors resulting in the promotion of quality services and growth.

Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr. Benjamin Ademuyiwa Eniayewun has lauded the leadership and staff of the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital (LIMH) for their efforts in ensuring that the facility continued to maintain a high standard in the health sector.

Eniayewun, who stated this during an inspection tour of the hospital recently, asserted that the health sector implements new ideas and policies in order to maintain standards and professionalism.

The Permanent Secretary, alongside other top management officials of the Commission, expressed satisfaction with the innovative performance of Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, which he said was a benchmark for excellence.

While stressing that the quality of service delivery at the Lagos Island Maternity driven from inception has been successfully sustained over the years, Eniayewun emphasised that the right mindset by the management and staff would further boost the positive service delivery culture of the Hospital.

He, however, called for continuous professional training and welfare for staff to promote dedication to duty as well as for prompt and effective service delivery.
