Libyan Air Force Destroys Cargo Plane, Warplane & Radars In Misrata Airbase (Video)
Libyan Air Force (LAF) warplanes carried out intense airstrikes on the Air Academy in the northern city of Misrata on August 6 and 7.
According to the Libyan National Army (LNA), the airstrikes destroyed a cargo plane, an L-39 warplane as well as two P-12, P-14 VHF radars.
“The strikes were precise and their effect was limited to the targets, which were destroyed,” the LNA said in a press release.
Pro-LNA sources claimed that the cargo plan was transferring weapons and ammunition from Turkey to forces loyal to the Government of National Accord (GNA). A video showing a large explosion after the airstrike on the plane suggests that it was indeed loaded with ammunition.
These airstrikes appear to be a response to the downing of the Wing Loong II unmanned combat vehicle (UCAV) by GNA forces, last week. The UCAV was reportedly being operated by the UAE Air Force (UAEAF).
