Giggs confident James can handle Man Utd demands

Wales boss Ryan Giggs is confident Daniel James can handle the demands of being a Manchester United player.

The jet-heeled 21-year-old is in line to make his Premier League debut against Chelsea on Sunday - and Giggs is confident he can deal with the step up.

Speaking at the launch of Salford City's sponsorship launch with TalkTalk, Giggs said: "Dan will not have any problems with that. He's a grounded lad, who just wants to play football, improve and be the best.

"A year or so ago he was on loan at Shrewsbury but in the last six months I've seen a massive change in him mentally and physically.

"Like any young winger he's going to be up and down. You look at Cristiano Ronaldo in his first 18 months at United he was like that and look where he is now. I'm not comparing Dan with Ronaldo but with all young wingers, there are sometimes questions about their final ball and whether they could score more.

"That's always going to be the case with Dan. But when he's on fire he is very difficult to stop and I think in a lot of games this year Untied fans will be excited. We've seen glimpses of that from Dan in pre-season.

"I am excited because I know what he's capable of. And it gives me an excuse [as Wales boss] to watch United as well."
