Tierney smashes Aubameyang’s Arsenal record during medical
Kieran Tierney kicked off life at Arsenal by beating Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s vertical jump height record during his medical.
Tierney made his £25million move to Arsenal on Thursday after weeks of speculation with Arsenal finally agreeing a deal for the Scotland international and he wasted no time in making an impression.
Tierny, despite still recovering from a double hernia operation managed to pass his medical, and during the medical the 22-year-old cleared Aubameyang’s straight vertical jump record during a series of physical challenges.
Tierney reached 50cms on his first jump before before being told he was just 4cm off Aubameyang’s record. The left-back then decided to try and beat his new team-mate’s mark and did so be recording a leap of 55cm.
Unai Emery has spoken about Tierney, who is set to return to full training in four weeks, and fellow new bot David Luiz.
“They are coming to help us, to give us different options. Tierney is a left back and David Luiz is a centre back. Both have experience and have played a high level.
“They will cover us. They’re in the squad with other players, taking confidence and knowing each other, and after that to give us the performance,” said Emery.
