Pair seen dicing with death as they hang from 50ft bridge as high winds rock UK

As the UK is pummeled by heavy gales, two foolhardy lads dangled from more than 50ft off a bridge in 60 mph winds.

The pair were pictured clinging to railings and wires from the City Footbridge above the River Usk in Newport, South Wales.

One onlooker said he couldn’t believe what he saw.

He said: ‘These idiots could easily have died. The wind was blowing really hard and could have made them lose their grip.’

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for much of the UK, with strong winds, heavy rain and thunderstorms ahead.

Trains have been hit with delays and cancellations due to flooding and roads and railways lines have been blocked by fallen trees.

The Met Office warning also means coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities could affected by large waves.

High-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges such as bus and train services have also been delayed.
