British eventing in mourning as ‘bright star’ Iona Sclater, 15, tragically dies in riding accident

TRAGIC British Eventing star Iona Sclater has died at the age of 15 after a riding accident at her home.

Sclater, who was based in Hertfordshire, was one of the sport’s rising stars and her passing was confirmed by British Eventing.

A statement read: “British Eventing was devastated to receive the news that one of our young members and bright stars in the sport, Iona Sclater, sadly died in a riding accident at home on Sunday 11 August.

“Our thoughts are with Iona’s friends and family, her dad Charles, mum Hetty and sisters Lara and Alicia, at this very difficult time.”
