Maidstone United vs. Eastbourne Borough
The Stones are back at the Gallagher Stadium on Tuesday night when they face Eastbourne Borough.
Maidstone got off the mark on Saturday thanks to a 3-1 win away at Hungerford Town. The home side took the lead through James Constable on 27 minutes but Dan Wishart, who had come into the starting line up, headed in the equaliser not long before the break. Nana Kyei then gave Maidstone the lead before a fantastic save from Jake Cole denied Kofi Halliday when it seemed certain the Hungerford player would score. After this, the Stones looked comfortable and substitute Clovis Kamdjo rounded off the scoring 17 minutes from time.
Eastbourne Borough have had a mixed start to the season. Defeat on the opening day of the season away at Billericay Town, thanks to a winner in stoppage time from former Maidstone player Jake Robinson, was followed by a 2-0 victory against Tonbridge Angels with another Stones striker, Greg Luer getting on the scoresheet. There is also another familiar name in the striking line up at Eastbourne this season after Elliot Romain moved there this summer.
Then on Saturday, Eastbourne drew 1-1 with Oxford City. Kristian Campbell celebrated the birth of his first child just 48 hours before the game with a cross / shot in windy conditions at Oxford that went into the net.
