An escaped Bison struck, killed by vehicle
SEWARD, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Bison was struck and killed near Bison Island Farm by a motor vehicle over the weekend.
The driver was uninjured, according to the DEC.
Owners say nearly one-third of the herd has been returned. The technique best used to re-capture the larger animals is tranquilizers.
Once the animals have been tranquilized, a temporary corral is set up around the Bison. Once the corral is up, the antidote is given, and then the Bison is loaded onto a trailer to return to the farm.
