Daniel Jones Is A Lucky Man
The Giants have good values.
This kind of sounds worse than it is but Giants owner John Mara says that “I hope Eli has a great year and Daniel [Jones] never sees the field.”
It’s actually a nice thing to say because Mara is being loyal to incumbent quarterback Eli Manning. The very best franchises, across sports, prize loyalty: the Giants, the Dodgers, the Celtics, the Steelers and the Lakers, until fairly recently, do things the right way.
Contrast that with the pettiness the Knicks have shown under James Dolan or the Clippers under Donald Sterling.
Obviously he has to prove himself on the field, but Jones basically got lucky when the Giants drafted him. That’s exactly what you would want to hear as a rookie, and certainly as as 38-year-old veteran who is at the end of his career.
