Risk of flooding after UK is hit with heavy rain and thunderstorms
The weather has been miserable today and it will probably be like this for the rest of the week.
If you did not get caught in showers you’re one of the lucky ones.
It got so bad the Met Office issued a warning for thunderstorms from Eastern parts of Wales, the Midlands and towards East Anglia and Lincolnshire.
It has warned there could be flooding and transport disruption in those areas as a result of the heavy rain.
Around 40mm of rain was predicted to fall in just two hours today.
The heavy rain is due to move eastward across Scotland overnight leaving some clear spells, but further scattered showers are likely in the west and other areas.
If it's not raining, chances are there will be spray and water on the roads leading to some challenging driving conditions for this evening's journey home. Stay #WeatherAware pic.twitter.com/pW48OEZTzu

A Met Office forecaster said: ‘This afternoon some wet weather around. Further outbreaks of rain.
‘It’s going to blustery in the south as well.
‘We are seeing more clouds and some outbreaks of rain for central and western areas of Scotland.
‘Towards the far north-east, that’s where the best weather will be, the best of the sunshine probably Shetland today. Highs of 17 and 18C.’
The showers will also return tomorrow morning but the rain will clear momentarily and there will then be a period of sunny spells.
There will possibly be heavy rain across central and eastern areas tomorrow afternoon.
The forecast is not looking much better for the end of the week, with heavy rain and strong winds expected in the east on Friday.
There will be some sunny spells on Saturday but you should expect a mix of sunny spells and heavy, blustery showers during the weekend.
The yellow thunderstorm warning is in place from 2pm to 10pm today.
