Krishna, Panchganga now below danger mark in Sangli, Kolhapur

The flood waters have further receded in Sangli and Kolhapur districts of Maharashtra, and the Krishna and Panchganga rivers are flowing below the danger mark, officials said on Wednesday evening.

As of 4 pm, the Panchganga river was flowing at 41.6 feet, below the danger mark of 43 feet, at Rajaram Weir in Kolhapur, a district official said.

In Sangli, the water level of the Krishna river was 39.1 feet at Irwin Bridge, below the danger mark of 45 feet.

Kolhapur and Sangli were the worst affected districts during the floods in western Maharashtra over the last ten days.
