LIVERPOOL fans called for a penalty after a handball by Andreas Christensen – but new rules prove Stephanie Frappart made the right decision.
The Danish defender blocked an ambitious overhead kick from Sadio Mane in the early stages of the Super Cup final in Istanbul.
Fans in the stadium screamed for a penalty after the ball appeared to hit the 23-year-old’s hand.
But Frappart ignored the supporters and Jurgen Klopp’s men had to settle for a corner kick.
The laws of the game state that a penalty will be awarded if the player’s arm is extended beyond a “natural silhouette” position.
Replays confirmed that the French official made the right call, but furious Liverpool fans continued to voice their outrage on Twitter.
One said: “Surprised that wasn’t a handball by Christensen?”
Another questioned: “How comes VAR did not check that handball by Christensen?”

Liverpool were penalised just five minutes into the game after Virgil van Dijk appeared to handle the ball.
