The Yankees won’t play the Orioles again until 2020.
I kid, I kid, but they will certainly miss having them around to beat on. Think back to the first series of the season, the Yankees dropped two-of-three to the Orioles and the injury bug really started to bite. The injuries haven’t stopped, but since that series, the Yankees beat Baltimore 16-straight times. I’m still trying to wrap my head around that, sixteen-straight wins over the same team.
The Yankees now head for the toughest remaining stretch of the season. 13 of the next sixteen games are against likely playoff teams. After that, they will play 18 of their final 24 games against teams currently at or below .500. They are scouring the waiver wire for pitches, adding four to the 40-man in the last 5 days and they still have 9 guys on the 60-day IL! Expect the musical chairs to continue as they will keep needing fresh arms until some of their injured pitchers come back and help.
