Dramatic moment Marbella cops open fire on car as suspect tries to speed away in front of shocked tourists in Puerto Banus
SHOCKED tourists could be heard yelling “oh s***” when cops suddenly drew their guns and opened fire at a speeding car in a busy part of Marbella.
Dramatic video captured the moment in Puerto Banus – a popular destination for Brit holidaymakers – when officers opened fire on a vehicle after the driver allegedly tried to run over a cop.
Diario Sur says that the man had allegedly tried to run over a cop who had pulled him over to ask for his identification.
At about 6.30am local time on August 15, the driver was stopped after he was reportedly spotted skidding around a roundabout on Jose Banus Avenue.
The website says that when the man was told to stop the engine, he allegedly reversed into a patrol vehicle, and fled the scene – nearly driving over one of the cops in the process.
The video shows a group of officers quickly drawing their weapons and firing eight bullets towards the fleeing vehicle, near the Tibu nightclub.
One of the tourists standing opposite the drama can be heard gasping and exclaiming “oh, s***”.
A high-speed car chase ensued along the A-7 motorway towards Malaga, until the driver lost control of the car and crashed.

Agents from the Civil Guard said the car was found empty and that it was a stolen vehicle.
Fingers prints and blood were found inside the car and police are still searching for the two men who were seen running away shortly after the smash.
Manuel Fernandez Valdivia, who uploaded the video, told The Olive Press in Spain: “Well done to [the local police] who with so few means and personnel fulfil their duty to protect the citizens.”
