FBI sex trafficking task force nets 5 arrests in Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO — A monthlong investigation by the FBI wound up with dozens of suspected sex traffickers under arrest, including five in the Bay Area, the agency said.

Child exploitation and human trafficking task force members for the FBI within the Oakland, San Jose, Richmond and Hayward police departments also found four minors, including a missing runaway, the FBI said Thursday in a three-part message on its Twitter page.

“Operation Independence Day” took place in July and nationally identified more than 100 kids while bringing “dozens” of arrests, the FBI said.
