OAKLAND — An eight-run eighth-inning secured the Giants’ 10-5 win over the Oakland A’s on Saturday night, tilting the Bay Bridge Trophy one game toward San Francisco.

Chris Bassitt held the Giants to one hit through his first four innings before Brandon Crawford hit an opposite field solo shot in the fifth.

Down to his final strike in the sixth with a runner in scoring position, Evan Longoria tied the game up with an RBI single. It kicked Bassitt out of the game, he allowed those two runs with five strikeouts and no walks.

Against Madison Bumgarner last week, the A’s could only muster one run on Stephen Piscotty’s homer. Oakland didn’t fare too much better on Saturday; Mark Canha took Bumgarner deep and flipped his bat to give the A’s an early lead. Matt Chapman hit a 113 mph RBI double in the third inning.

Oakland got to the bullpen in the seventh inning and was able to take the lead again on RBI singles from Matt Olson and Marcus Semien.

But the Giants rallied back, putting up eight runs on Yusmeiro Petit, A.J. Puk, Lou Trivino and Ryan Buchter in an eighth inning that culminated with Stephen Vogt’s three-run home run.
