Edwin Diaz Leaves Game With Apparent Injury

Edwin Diaz was removed from Saturday’s game, walking off the mound with head athletic trainer Brian Chicklo.

After an electric inning on Friday night, Edwin Diaz was hoping to repeat that level of performance in Saturday’s game. He came into the ninth inning on Saturday with the Mets down 7-5, and Freddie Freeman greeted him rudely with a home run.

After he struck out Josh Donaldson, he walked Charlie Culberson on a full count and immediately appeared to look uncomfortable and in some possible pain. Chicklo came out to the mound, and a dejected Diaz walked off the mound.

This season has been a wobbly struggle for Diaz, and now the Mets will have to wait for further reports to determine the extent of his injury. Stay tuned to MMO for updates as they are released.
