Environmental concerns on a world high in India: Report
Environmental concerns and the damage being caused to the planet by humans remains among the highest in the world in India, a survey of global attitudes to the environment conducted by a Netherlands-based polling agency concluded on Thursday.
Glocalites, in its global trend analysis report titled 'Global rise in environmental concern', found that the concern among supporters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi tends to be even higher and is part of a wider global trend on increasing environmental awareness.
"In India on average 84 per cent of the people interviewed online are worried about the damage that humans cause to the planet. Among Modi fans this is a bit higher: 86 per cent," said Martijn Lampert, research director at Glocalities.
"In India the scores were already high in 2014 (82 per cent), but the rest of the world seems to be catching up with a rise of on average six per cent. It is very interesting to see that environmental concern increasingly is a unifier topic in the world .
