Trump announces latest decision regarding the number of U.S. troops he may keep in Afghanistan
The U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he intends to keep 8,600 troops in Afghanistan.
Speaking to Fox News Radio, Trump said “We’re going down to 8,600 and then we make a determination from there as to what happens … we’re bringing it down.”
Furthermore, Trump reiterated his previous remarks that the U.S. can the war in Afghanistan in a short period of time.
President Trump said the US “could win that war so fast if I wanted to kill ten million people there … which I don’t.”
This comes as the U.S. and Taliban representatives are busy negotiating a peace deal in Qatari capital of Doha.
Trump had earlier announced that he intends to withdraw all U.S. forces from Afghanistan.
