EA Sports considering bringing Fight Night games back after Eddie Hearn plea to gaming giants

BOXING promoter Eddie Hearn has called on video games giant EA Sports to bring back old classic Fight Night.

The last incarnation of the legendary platform game was back in 2011, with the Fight Night Champion title.

This was available on PS3, Xbox 360 and iOS devices.

Back in October last year Matchroom boss Hearn tweeted to EA Sports to re-release that popular boxing game.

And he has confirmed that the software giant has since responded that they are “looking into” his request.

Speaking to ThaBoxingVoice, Hearn said: “Because every time I tweet about it [Fight Night], it goes crazy!

“I wrote to EA Sports, ‘Do you realise how many questions I get about Fight Night games – let me bring it back?’

“[They respond with] ‘Oh, we’re looking at it, we’re looking at it.’

“So, EA Sports, if you’re watching, or any big-game developer, we’re here.

“Fight Night, let’s go. It’s going to be number one!”

JOSHUA GAME FOR RUIZ REMATCH

But Hearn has other things to concentrate on at the moment – notably making sure his man Anthony Joshua is ready for his make-or-break rematch against Andy Ruiz Jr.

This is set for for December 7 in Saudi Arabia and a chance to avenge one of the biggest shocks of all time.

And of course there is the small matter of winning back the WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO world titles.

But in an interview with Sky Sports, AJ admitted he needs to “get that passion back” and he hinted that a failure to land ‘the big one’ against Deontay Wilder had affected his mindset.

But Matchroom boss Hearn has advised his main man to focus on the job at hand if he is to reclaim his throne at the top.

HEARN WANTS AJ FOCUS

Hearn told the Independent: “I think he’s just got to snap out of it.

“I think he was disillusioned with the sport because he wanted to fight Deontay Wilder.

“He couldn’t get that fight and as he said in the interview, he didn’t really want to fight Andy Ruiz. But tough, you fought him and you fought a real hungry guy.

“I think the great thing about this promotion is that now, for the first time next week, he looks a man in the eyes who is the only man to beat him as a professional.

“It’s going to be absolutely huge. The whole world will stop to watch this fight.”

The 2012 Olympic gold medallist suffered a shock seventh-round knockout defeat against the Destroyer in June, where he was dropped four times at Madison Square Garden.

Joshua immediately invoked his rematch clause against Ruiz Jr and the pair will face each other in Diriyah in December.
