DONE DEAL: Sporting CP defender Thierry Correia excited joining Valencia

Valencia have signed Sporting CP defender Thierry Correia.

Valencia wanted to bring in a right-back at the end of the transfer window after discovering the extent of Cristiano Piccini's knee injury, and on deadline day they were able to sign Correia.

The 20-year-old has penned a five-year deal with Los Che, while Valencia have paid Sporting around 15m once add-ons are taken into account. Correia has been given a release clause of 100m.

"Miguel [Monteiro] played here at Valencia and he's a friend of my father's, so I've always had a relationship with Valencia," Correia said.

"Then there is also the Portuguese national team player Goncalo Guedes, and Piccini, who also played for Sporting CP.

"Unfortunately [Piccini] has a serious injury and I want him to recover quickly."
