Julia Redpath Named Executive Producer of ABC News’ ‘This Week’

0

ABC News president James Goldston announced Julia Redpath has been named the Executive Producer of Sunday morning current affairs “This Week.”

“Julia brings a tremendous amount of journalistic experience to the role and will be leading our Sunday morning public affairs program at a critical time in politics,” he wrote in a letter to staff regarding Redpath, who worked for National Public Radio for 26 years before making the move to ABC News.

“This Week” is currently anchored by George Stephanopoulos, who signed a new contract at ABC News early this year, extending his tenure at the network for at least another four years, according to previous reporting by TheWrap. That deal secured Stephanopoulos more than $65 million, working out to roughly $15 million to $18 million per year, and ensured he will remain a central player in ABC News’ coverage of the 2020 presidential campaign while still anchoring “This Week.”

Redpath’s own campaign coverage through six presidential elections was heralded in Goldston’s letter to staff: “Most recently as Deputy Managing Editor at NPR, she led specials and live events for the network, including live coverage of the Kavanaugh Supreme Court confirmation hearings, every facet of the 2016 election, from the primaries to Election Night, and the Trump administration.”

She starts on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
