Wilson Ramos’ 26 Game Hit Streak Ends
In the New York Mets’ 8-4 victory over the Washington Nationals, Wilson Ramos‘ 26-game hit streak that started on August 3 ended, as he went 0-for-4 on the day with a walk.
Ramos, 32, almost got a hit in the ninth inning off Sean Doolittle, but Howie Kendrick dove on a scorching ground ball up the middle and threw to first before Ramos got there.
The catcher’s hit streak ties that of David Wright (September 17, 2006-April 19, 2007) for the second-longest in team history and was four games short of the Mets’ longest done by Moises Alou for 30 straight games (August 23-September 26, 2007). It was also the longest hitting streak in the majors since Freddie Freeman‘s 30-game hit streak in 2016.
On the year, Ramos is now hitting .295/.357/.424 with 13 home runs and 67 RBI.
