[Men's Soccer] Zamora's Late Goal Lifts Men's Soccer Falcons to Third Straight Win
WICHITA, Kan. – Under first-year head coach Joe Dincecco, the Friends University Falcons keep finding ways to win, this time getting a late score from Juan Zamora (SO/LaBelle, Florida) with just over five minutes left to snap a 1-1 tie and give the Falcons a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Culver-Stockton College Wildcats today (Sept. 7) at Adair-Austin Stadium.
It was Zamora's second goal of the day and came off a pass to the middle of the box from Brandon Savinon (SO/Wichita, Kan. ) at the 84:41 mark.
Zamora, now with a team-high five goals on the season, had scored earlier to give the Falcons a 1-0 edge in the 22nd minute of the first half.
In the 74th minute, William Mansfield converted a penalty kick to bring the Wildcats into a 1-1 tie.
Zamora finished with four shots to help the Falcons (3-1) out-shoot Culver Stockton 11-10 overall. The Wildcats held a 7-5 edge in shots-on-goal.
Jesus Herrera Rivera (SO/Dodge City, Kan.) started at goalkeeper for the Falcons and played the first half with four saves. Kaden Jobe (JR/Maize, Kan. ) then played the second half in the net and made a pair of stops.
Nicholas Luciani recorded three saves for the Wildcats (1-4).
The Falcons will next play at Oklahoma City University Wednesday night (Sept. 11) at 7 pm.
