Harry Maguire’s transfer has a knock on effect Any doubt that there might be a future without Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool has been put to rest as the defender has reportedly agreed to a new contract, according to the Mirror. The deal apparently has a lot to do with Harry Maguire signing for Manchester United this past summer. The UEFA Player of the Year’s representatives had been working with Liverpool on a new deal, but the Maguire transfer to rivals Manchester United gave them a benchmark number to work with. van Dijk is obviously better than Maguire and should be paid accordingly.
