Watch Andorra attempt worst offside trap ever as minnows lose to Turkey

ANDORRA were caught attempting to play the worst offside trap ever during their Euro 2020 qualifier against Turkey.

The minnows, ranked 136th in the world, have been left rooted to the bottom of Group H following their 1-0 defeat to Senol Gunes’ side.

Ozan Tufan netted a late winner for Turkey at Besiktas’ Vodafone Park Stadium, but the home side should have taken the lead much earlier in the half.

Five minutes after the restart, Emre Belozoglu was given the opportunity to whip in a deep free-kick, which gave Andorra the chance to show off what they’d practiced in training.

But their attempt to play the offside trap goes disastrously wrong as poor communication means that half of their team only rush out once the ball has been delivered.

With all of Turkey’s attackers still very much onside, Andorra laughably race forwards before realising their error.

One defender meekly put up his arm in hopes of an offside but the flag stayed down to leave Caglar Soyuncu with the freedom of the area to control Belozoglu’s cross.

The Leicester City defender takes the ball on his chest and is given the simple task of squaring it to Everton striker Cenk Tosun for a sure finish.

However, Soyuncu ignores his teammate and tries to chip Andora keeper Josep Gomes, but Ildefons Lima gets back to clear the ball off the line.

Tosun was understandably furious about not being played in, but Soyuncu’s blushes were spared by substitute Tufan’s 89th-minute strike.

The result ensured Turkey keep pace with Group H leaders France, only behind on goal difference, with both having won four and lost one.

The World number 37 side will now face second-from-bottom Moldova in Chisinau, while Andorra remain last on 0 points, having lost all five matches without scoring a single goal.

France will be relishing the tie against Andorra on Tuesday, in which they warmed up for by sweeping aside Albania 4-1 on Saturday.
