[Women's Soccer] Women's Soccer Blanks Johnson University on the Road
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Montreat College women's soccer held Johnson University to just one shot, none on goal, as the Cavs defeated the Royals 2-0 Saturday afternoon in Knoxville, Tenn. The squad remains without a loss in the 2019 season with conference play approaching next week.
Maddy Reed opened the scoring at 23:29 when she netted an assist from Kaitlyn Adams for what would end up being the contest's game-winning goal.
Soon after, Zoe Frenier found the back of the net at 25:28, notching a goal in her second consecutive game to give Montreat a 2-0 lead. Marissa Murray had a chance to put the Cavs up 3-0 with a penalty kick at 41:42, but missed just wide.
Murray, along with Teigan Eicher and Kristie Garren, led the attack with six shots apiece. Hayden Bunn contributed 5 of her own as Montreat outshot Johnson 39-1 in the contest.
Up Next: The Cavs open their conference schedule Saturday, Sept. 14 at Bryan College. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. ET.
