Panto fans think they’re getting to see Brad Pitt in town’s Aladdin production after typo on sign of real star Brad Fitt
ONE is a Hollywood A-Lister and one of the most famous movie stars on the planet.
The other is a little known Norfolk-born pantomime performer who has recently played the role of Mother Goose on stage.
Shoppers in Shrewsbury thought Christmas had come early when banners for the annual festive panto announced Brad Pitt would be starring.
However, Hollywood royalty will not be coming to Shropshire, and they will instead have to settle for local favourite Brad Fitt.
The unfortunate blunder was a mistake by the printers and the huge banner, which had been put up on the railings which run along Shrewbury’s Castle, was quickly taken down when the typo was spotted.
Mr Fitt, who was topped the bill at Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn for a decade, will return again this year to play Widow Twankey and direct the production of Aladdin.
He joked: “Sorry to disappoint but you’ve got me again!”
Mr Fitt has previously been described by the Sunday Telegraph as one of the UK’s top Dames.

“I think we have just become a bit blind to it.
“When I looked back at the proofs, I realised what had happened.
“It was bound to happen one day. We have had a number of near misses over the last 10 years and this one just seems to have got through.”
