[Women's Golf] Lady Bearcats Edged by Oakland City
The Brescia women's golf team was edged out by the Mighty Oaks of Oakland City on September 12 at the Cambridge Golf Club in Evansville, Indiana.
The Lady Bearcats were led by Meredith Mayes (SO, Central City, Ky.) with a score of 78, finishing second behind Oakland City's Hallie Hinton with a 77. "I like where my game is, but I could be putting a lot better," said Mayes.
Allie Holeman (SR, Bowling Green, Ky.), with an 82, was the second best score for the Lady Bearcats. Brooklyn Spicer (SO, Goodletsville, Tenn.) and Makenzie Moore (JR, Hartford, Ky.) played a lot better than the score indicated, scoring 87 and 89, respectively.
Laurel Hotchkiss (FR, Fishers, Ind.) had an excellent bounceback after a tough opening nine to shoot 42 on the back for a 91 to round out the top five. Alexa Chandler (SO, Madisonville, Ky.) played as an individual and posted a score of 92 to round out the field.
"I really like the trend we are going in currently. The ladies are playing better and, considering none of them had seen the golf course before, I am impressed with the overall performance of the team under the tough heat yesterday," said Head Coach Jason Cox.
The women's golf team will be back in action on September 16 and 17 on the road in the 2019 Blue Raider Classic at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson Golf Club.
