Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Man Utd v Leicester

Mark Lawrenson is tipping Manchester United to edge to a narrow 2-1 victory over Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils are winless in their last three Premier League outings to raise concerns about their progress under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United made a positive start to the new season with a 4-0 victory over Chelsea FC in front of their home supporters.

However, the 20-time English champions have since drawn with Southampton and Wolves, while Crystal Palace were surprise 2-1 winners at Old Trafford.

Manchester United will welcome Leicester to the stadium this weekend, having poached their best defender Harry Maguire in an £80m deal in the summer.

The Foxes are one of two unbeaten teams left in the Premier League following an impressive return of eight points from their opening four fixtures.

Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson is backing Manchester United to come through a difficult test against Leicester to end their winless run.

“Leicester are looking very lively and have made a positive start to the season, so this will be a test for United,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

“I am expecting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to win at home, but United are such a disjointed team at the moment that we don’t really know what kind of level they will be at.”

Manchester United signed Swansea City winger Daniel James, Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Leicester centre-half Maguire this summer.

However, the Red Devils have conceded five times in four outings so far.

Maguire became the world’s most expensive defender after his transfer fee surpassed Virgil van Dijk’s £75m price tag.
