Shane Burgos vs. Makwan Amirkhani added to UFC 244 in New York
A bout between two featherweight prospects is heading to Madison Square Garden.
Shane Burgos will face Makwan Amirkhani on Nov. 2 at UFC 244, MMA Junkie confirmed with a person with knowledge of the situation after an initial report from Newsday.
Burgos (12-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) is coming off the biggest win of his career, a split decision over featherweight staple Cub Swanson at UFC on ESPN+ 9. He is currently on a two-fight winning streak, and the New York native will get an opportunity to fight at home for the fifth time in just seven UFC fights.
Amirkhani (15-3 MMA, 5-1 UFC) returned after a year-long layoff in a “Performance of the Night” submission over Chris Fishgold at UFC on ESPN+ 11. UFC 244 will mark the first time “Mr. Finland” fights in the U.S., as he looks to enter the featherweight rankings with a win over Burgos.
