‘Hang Onto Your Hair’ is the bonkers new Instagram pose bikini-clad celebrities are loving – just make sure you shave your pits
IS there anything more awkward than posing for a bikini photo and having NO IDEA what to do with your hands? Short answer – absolutely not.
Do you go full-on Kardashian and put them on your hips or try and achieve something a little more candid?
Well if you’re anything like us (i.e. floundering in that uncomfortable middle zone), then you might want to try your hand at the “Hang Onto Your Hair” pose which bikini-clad celebs are loving on Instagram.
From Kylie Jenner and Emily Ratjkowski to Love Island castmates past and present, this easy-to-execute move simply involves running your hands through your hair as you gaze at the camera.
Alternatively, other stars such as Rita Ora and Leigh-Anne Pinnock prefer to look away from the photographer to really perfect that candid look.
Even though there’s nothing about a bikini photoshoot which ever feels natural.
Unlike the “standid” Instagram pose – which involves carefully plucking a single piece of hair and staring at the camera – the “Hang Onto Your Hair” can be executed one of two ways.
Either you pull all your hair up onto your head and precariously try to keep it in place as you strike a pose OR effectively examine a single strand of hair as if you were inspecting a split end.
Side note: this is our personal favourite as it means you don’t have to remember to shave your pits whereas piling your hair on top of your head leaves them totally exposed.
Better still, you can take notes from Maya Jama and perfect this pose while kicking back on a sunlounger by the pool.
Combining this pose with the ever-so-popular “Sexy Step-up”, Kendall Rae Knight made the Hang Onto Your Hair all the more fashionable by twiddling the end of her ponytail.
