Google Play Pass to cost $1.99 a month for limited time, then go up to $4.99

Alphabet Inc.'s said Google Play Pass is coming to devices running on its Android operating system in the U.S. this week, with subscriptions starting with a 10-day free trial, then costing $4.99 a month. But for a limited time, Play Pass will cost $1.99 a month for the first 12 months, then the price will increase to $4.99. Google said Play Pass will give users access to more than 350 apps and games that are free of ads, in-app purchases and upfront payments. Earlier this month, Apple said its Arcade gaming service, which launched last week, will cost $4.99 a month for family access. Alphabet's stock rose 0.5% in midday trading. It has rallied 9.8% over the past three months while Apple shares have climbed 10.2% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average has gained 0.9%.
