Adding Insult to Injury: Solitary Michigan Fan Endures Badgers’ ‘Jump Around’ Ritual

0
A solitary Michigan Wolverines fan was having a bad enough time watching his team get beaten 35 to 14 by the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday, September 21. But then the Badgers fans really rubbed it in. The House of Pain song Jump Around is usually played between the third and fourth quarters of Badgers’ football games played at the team’s home, Camp Randall Stadium, in Madison, Wisconsin. The tradition began in October 1998, when the song was blasted through the stadium’s sound system in order to rouse both players and fans in a game against the Purdue Boilermakers where the Badgers were scoreless at the end of the third quarter. When the song blasted around the stadium late in the third quarter on Saturday, Badgers fans across the stadium jumped up and got down as directed. The video shows one navy-clad Wolverines fan making thumbs-down gestures, surrounded by bouncing Badgers fans as far as the eye can see. Credit: George Balekji via Storyful
