Autumn on the Avon - fig of eight loop
Another video offering of a trip thats become a firm favourite of mine over this spring and summer - the figure of eight loop - starting at Limpley Stoke in the Avon Valley, near Bath. Its a short day trip of a couple of miles down the Avon to Warleigh weir, the popular wild swimming spot. A short portage across the railway at Claverton Down pumping station to the Kennet and Avon canal above for a couple of miles paddle up to Dundas Aqueduct and back to Limpley Stoke again. Im amazed at how few people you see on the first downstream section of the Avon after going under the bridge at Limpley, its possible to have the river to yourself until Warleigh weir.
