But the Portugal captain can expect to face stiff competition from great rival Lionel Messi and Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk.

The awards ceremony will take place TONIGHT.
It will get underway at 6.30pm with the green carpet arrivals in Milan, before the ceremony begins in earnest at 7.30pm.
